President Buhari Orders Military Crackdown On Banditry
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a military crackdown on bandits
operating in rural communities in Zamfara state, Following fresh attacks
on some communities in Shinkafi and Maradun local government areas. the
president has also approved the request of minister of defence, Mansur
Dan Ali for the stationing of a full battalion of special forces in
Zamfara state and the operationalization of the newly established 8
division of the Nigerian army in Sokoto as well as the movement of the
one brigade from Sokoto to Gusau. A statement by the senior special
assistant to the president on media and publicity Garba Shehu says the
president has equally approved the setting up of an intelligence fusion
centre in Maiduguri for the purpose of gathering and sharing
intelligence among the security agencies in the country. adding that the
phase of the war on terror will be intelligence-driven and the new
centre is expected to intensify the harvesting and sharing of
intelligence so as to bring to an early closure, the desperate last
minute activities of terrorists.
IGP On Presidential Directive
The inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris has ordered all
commissioners of police in charge of state commands and their
supervising assistant inspectors general of police and other police
formations nationwide to be on red-alert prevent the spread of the
renewed Boko haram attacks on soft targets.they are also to quell the
recent attacks by armed bandits in Zamfara state and other vulnerable
states in the country. a statement from force public relations officer
CSP Jimoh Moshood says the order is in compliance with the presidential
directive. The statement said the ongoing joint operations between the
police and other security agencies in the states of the north east of
the country is being sustained. it stated that additional deployment of
police personnel from police mobile force, the counter terrorism unit,
police explosive ordinance department, force criminal intelligence and
investigation department personnel, attack and sniffer dogs section have
been made to the states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to bring new impetus
to the fight against insurgency by Nigeria police force in the affected
states. the Nigeria police force commiserates with the government and
people of Adamawa and Zamfara states over the recent killings in a
mosque in Mubi and another attack in Numan local government areas, and
in Shinkafi and Maradun local government areas. the force also implores
the people in the affected states to be vigilant and more security
conscious most especially during periods of worship.
Buhari Inaugurates Committee On Recoveries
The federal government has vowed to ensure that never again will the
wanton diversion and embezzlement of public assets witnessed in the past
be allowed in Nigeria’s national life. President Muhammad Buhari
stated this while inaugurating the audit committee on the recovery and
management of stolen assets within and outside Nigeria. state house

FEC Moves To Curb Illegal Mining.
The federal executive council has approved the procurement of 50 Toyota
hilux vehicles for the special mining surveillance task force at 987
million Naira. this is to put an end to illegal mining operations across
Nigeria so that the sector can contribute more to the nation’s gross
domestic product for sustainable economic development. state house

president Muhammadu Buhari observed a moment of silence in honour of the
late vice president of Nigeria, DR Alex Ekwueme.
