Ambode makes case for knowledge, skill acquisition
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Thursday, said, the state government fully recognises the enormous value that knowledge and skill training bring to bear on the attainment of the strategic objectives of the government and the public service of Lagos state. AMBODE Governor Ambode, who was represented by the Commissioner, State Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Akintola Oke, at the training of top public servants with their local government counterparts, organised by the Local Government Establishments Training and Pensions Office, tagged: Deepening capacity of public offfice holders for good governance. Dr Oke, noted that the public service has performed creditably well in the recent past, because wisdom dictates that one should never rest on one’s oars. He however said, improvements are not only important, they are also crucial and fundamental. According to him: “It is important that the public service continues to improve and not become a slave trivia and repetitive task, and it is always beneficial for organisation to take yet another look at the problems they are meant to solve in order to discover new and more effective methods of solving these problems.” He advised delegates to take good advantage of the training to get the opportunity to understand the elements of good governance and finacial controls in public service.
